Inspecting the JD 6600 Combine

DH & I puchased a combine in October 2004. DS was 10. He was 10. He did that crooked finger waving..."Come Here Mom!". I caught it on camera!

I love this page. It was inspired by Sally's Sketch SBSC178 and Jennipher's Inspiration Challenge IFC39 to mix patterned paper from different vendors. I'm using a plaid with a floral. Plaid is from SU! Prestwick and floral is a K & Company Girl Scout print. Same papers from yesterday's layout, but with a different emphasis.

A 52sketches52weeks DT member provided a tutorial on ribbon pleating. I had to try this with staples. You'll have to hit the stapler H A R D. Make sure your fingers are out of the way!

But boy, ain't it purty!

Here's today's page and yesterday's page together.

SUPPLIES:
Paper - SU! Textured Night of Navy, SU! Prestwick, K & Company Girl Scout line, PTI white
Accessories - SU! Button Latte, SU! Chocolate Chip Corduroy Buttons, miscellaneous SU! buttons, glue dots, ruler, white gel pen, sticky strip, Comic Sans MS font, stapler, May Arts navy 1/2" grosgrain ribbon

JLO Bonus Challenge #01

May is one of those odd months where we have FIVE Fridays! Today is bonus challenge day!

A fellow SCSer had the "feel bads" and couldn't decide whether to wear a new sweater or something old and comfy to work that morning. She decided on the new sweater.

Check out this sweater from Land's End. Click the patterns until you get to the "Bright Pistachio Multi Buttrfl" - the last swatch.

This sweater made her smile and I'm sure it lifted her spirits. When you look good, you feel good.

So, what about this sweater inspires you? I LOVE THE COLORS!

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to create something inspired by this particular sweater.

Your inspiration could be the pattern, the colors, the feeling it invokes in you...anything. Please leave a comment and share what inspires you. If you upload to SCS, the keyword for this challange would be JLOBC01 (JessicaLynnOriginal Bonus Challenge 1).

Phillip the JD 6600 Combine

OK...it should say Phillip ON the JD 6600 Combine. I messed up on my journaling. I'm not changing it. Guess it will just be something to chuckle about. There's also the camera date stamp on my page. Oh well. LOL

This is one of my favorite photos and I'm really liking this page.

I used Sketch #21 from 52sketches52weeks. I'm also taking Jennipher's challenge - IFC30 - to mix patterned paper from different vendors. This page mixes plaid & floral. The plaid paper is from SU! Prestwick and the floral is from K & Company's Girl Scout line. No, I wasn't a Girl Scout. I just liked the paper!

I love the gel pen and button frame. Buttons are SU!; included in the bunch are buttons from Button Latte and the Chocolate Chip Corduroy buttons. Buttons are attached with glue dots. Here's a close up of the buttons.

Inside the Historic State Theatre

As I mentioned yesterday, the State Theatre had undergone years of renovation and it was finally completed. The grand re-opening was Mother's Day 2009. Here's a peek inside.

When they were working in the theatre, they uncovered murals. Flanking the stage are two murals featuring a Greek goddess holding the mask of tragedy and on the other side, the mask of comedy. On each side wall of the auditorium is what looks like a giant movie reel, decorated with flourishes. The ceiling is striped in various shades of green and burgundy. The motifs from the walls are repeated in relief at intervals in two rows down the ceiling

The layout is inspired by a Sally Sketch - SBSC 191. Cardstock colors are SU! Baha Breeze, Night of Navy and Really Rust. I punched the Night of Navy with the SU! Spiral Punch. My intention was to mimic a strip of film.

My favorite part of this layout are the flourishes at the top! I traced the negative left from some Tim Holtz grungeboard flourishes with an SU! Night of Navy Stampin' Write Marker and filled it in. I accented certain areas of the flourish with a white gel pen. The flourishes mimic the flourishes on the wals inside the auditorium.

Titling is SU! Night of Navy craft ink stamped on PTI White. Lettering is attached with pop dots.

Here are yesterday's and today's pages together.

There's so much more to tell about the State. I have one more picture and there's a couple more pictures I want to take and include in additional pages on the State Theatre. It was a wonderful part of my life as I grew up and the history of the theatre is rich. I love history.

Arriving at the theatre...in style

The Historic State Theatre in Elizabethtown KY is an ART DECO style theatre that recently completed several years of renovation and re-opened on Mother's Day 2009 weekend with a showing of E.T. The last film shown at the State before its closing in the early 1980's was E.T. We - that is me, DH, DS, Mom and Joe - attended the grand re-opening. Tickets were $10, with "free popcorn & soda".

Boy! Did Mom & Joe arrive at the theatre...not only fashionably late at 5:45...ok...they weren't late (show as at 6 PM), but IN STYLE BABY! Joe has this VW he's been working on. It's YO YO YELLOW! Mom said they got lotsa looks driving through downtown Elizabethtown. I bet. I thought it was so cool!

I used Jennipher's inspiration challenge - IFC39 - in selecting my papers for this page. The challenge was mixing patterned papers from different vendors. She provided several combinations. This particular page features the paisleys and checks combo. The check paper is from SU! Urban Garden and the paisley paper from Making Memories.

I followed Sketch #6 from 52sketches52weeks. All supplies from my stash! I don't have to go shopping for supplies, just basics. (sigh) The stitching is a rub-on from K & Company; received in a Wish RAK exchange. Matted one ticket and attached with pop dots; other ticket is attached with sticky strip. Journaling was done in a Word document using Comic Sans MS font and printed on Baha Breeze.

The only candy they had at the refreshment stand was Reeses Pieces. Anyone know why?

It was a trip down the memory lane for me, DH, Mom & probably Joe. DS loved the theatre. He just wished the screen and the seats were bigger. Ummm...son, that's the way it was "back then". He had a blast; he had always wanted to see E.T. It was really cool to see Drew Barrymore as a child; it's hard to believe she & I are roughly the same age! I really did feel old that day, in the good way.

Now, please leave a comment as to WHY Reeses Pieces was the ONLY candy they had at the refreshment stand! Not my favorite candy...but it was OK.

SUPPLIES:
Paper - Making Memories, SU! Urban Garden, SU! Not Quite Navy, SU! Baja Breeze
Accessories - Swarvoski Crystals, glue dots, K & Company rub-ons, Basic Grey rub-on tool, sticky strip, SU! Stampin' Dimensionals, SU! Scallop Border Punch, corner rounder

Heading for the Open Road

On DS 14th birthday (and that was last year), a friend brought over his Harley and gave DS a ride. DS was super excited. Jess (of Jessica Lynn Original) came out with this cool biker owl dude...Brentwood...on Thursday; DS had picked out some Harley papers & stickers one day at Micheal's...I knew I had all the ingredients for a perfect layout!

I used a favorite creative process (progressive page) to create Friday's page. For today's page, I wanted the DP to shine. I trimmed off half an inch on each side of the DP and mounted it to SU! textured black CS. I know...but at the time I laid out this page, I didn't have regular black. Oh DUH! I just had a light "bub" moment...my SU! order came on Friday, I could have changed out the paper BEFORE I put the page together on SATURDAY! (smacking forehead) LOL Oh well...too late to worry about THAT! I covered up all that texture; but ya know, the part that shows has this neat texture. LOL.

I really do like how I laid out the pictures. I took them from different angles and they are laid in a counter clockwise fashion. Here they are at the top, getting ready to take off. They go around me and turn towards the road...I have the pic of them in the yard. Then there they are on the road. They ride off...(they also ride off into the back of the page).

I love the titling. It's a combination of Tidy Alphabet and Harley Davidson sticker alpha letters. Tidy alphabet is stamped in SU! Basic Black craft ink on SU! Brushed Silver, and then embossed using SU! Black EP. They are attached with pop dots.

Here's Friday's page and today's page together.

Pretty cool, huh?

SUPPLIES:
Stamps - Biker Brentwood (JessicaLynnOriginal) digital stamp, SU! Tidy Alphabet

Ink - SU! Basic Black craft ink
Accessories - heat gun, pop dots, SU! Black embossing powder, corner rounder, sticky strip, EK Success Harley Davidson lettering & stickers, SU! Stampin Write Markers, SU! Stampin' Dimensionals

JLO Tutorial #01 - Creating Progressively

Got scrapper's block? I've found a cure...create a progressive page.

One of the easiest ways to scrap is to make a progressive page. You can even apply this to cardmaking!

It sounds hard, but the concept is really quite simple. If you've seen those little 6 x 6 scrapbooks...I mean...your picture is 3 1/2 x 5 or 4 x 6...the picture is going to take up most of the 6 x 6 page, right? Add some journaling and a few embellishments, maybe a strip of scrap paper & VIOLA! You have the beginnings of a progressive page.

Then take your 6 x 6 page and add it to an 8 1/2 x 11 page. I took my 6 x 6 panel and tilted it on a 8 1/2 x 11 piece of SU! Brushed Silver CS. I added a picture of the bike and a digital stamped image of Biker Brentwood.

Once your 8 1/2 x 11 page is completed, add it to a piece of 12 x 12 cardstock. The 12 x 12 paper is a grayish / tan I found in my stash. I attached a strip of Harley Davidson DP along the side and added the 8 1/2 x 11 page. I could stop here and call this page done.

However, I had two more pictures I wanted to use. I added these to the 12 x 12 section, layering the pictures under the 6 x 6 panel and the Biker Brentwood.

So, how do you apply progressive pages to cardmaking? Make an Artist Trading Card and then bump it up to a standard card. There's only so much you can put on the smaller versiou. Once you add the smaller version to the larger piece, you can add more elements.

Your challenge should you choose to accept it...is to create progressively.

Please leave a comment with a link to your project - scrapbook page or card. I would love to see your projects! If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword JLOTU01 (JessicaLynnOriginal Tutorial #01).

Stamps - Jessica Lynn Original Biker Brentwood (digital)
Accessories - Harley Davidson stickers (EK Success), sticky strip, SU! Stampin Write Markers, At You Spica Glitter, silver Sharpie, SU! Stampin Dimensionals

JLO presents....

Brentwood – The owl that time forgot
This month Brentwood has gone prehistoric.

When they were in 1st grade Brentwood and his friends took a trip to the museum to check out the Cro-Magnon Owl exhibit. They were showcasing some specimens dated approximately 40,000 to 10,000 years ago. Brentwood learned a lot about the dinosaurs that walked the earth. He wished that he and his friends could have been around during those times to make friends with those large creatures.

Join us tonight in the JLO chatroom at 7 PM Central / 8 PM Eastern for chat and prizes. Jessica will be giving away stamp sets and gift certificates to the JLO store.

Tonight, you will also meet Biker Brentwood...in digital and clear stamp form!

I saw Brentwood on a motorcycle...and knew I had the perfect pics to scrap!

A friend took DS on a Harley Ride for his 14th birthday! This is a progressive page. Stop by tomorrow for step by step directions on creating a progressive page. This is an easy, creative and very fun way to create distinctive layouts!

But first, tonight, stop by the chatroom to say HI to mollymoo951 - that's me! Come meet Jessica Lynn and the Design Team. Hope to see you tonight! No password required, just enter your user name & click connect!

Awards Day 2005

I'm still strolling down the memory lane...it's May and that means awards day and the last day of school!

Not for the obvious reason (cuz I loved school), I looked forward to the last day of school.

It was time to close the book on a successfully completed school year, time to clean out your desk or locker, time to get that final report card, time to look forward to summer, time to sign yearbooks...

DS is in the fourth grade!

Not really, he's in the EIGHTH grade...I'm taking a trip down the memory lane...remember?

So he's in the fourth grade. (wink wink)

I just LOVE the right page!

The titling is a hodgepodge of chipboard letters! All RAK'd. (I can't believe I did that...no matchy match here!)

Here is DS receiving an award at his fourth grade Awards Day. He was on the Honor Roll and received a medal. I was and still am so proud of him!

The chalkboard designer paper is from a Karen Foster School Pack found in my stash. Already distressed...gotta love that! The green DP is some of the SU! SAB designer paper. The naked chipboard stars are from SU! The glittered brackets are SU! sticky cuts and Martha Stewart glitter. Sentiment is a rubon from Me and My Big Ideas. The journaling is done with a white gel pen.

I love the titling! I'm so proud of me...I mixed and matched! And used up my stash!

The left page is simple. Gotta rest the eye...or somethin'...

More Karen Foster paper from the same paper pack. Pencil and titling are Me and My Big Ideas stickers. The photo mat, the stick kid and the "A+" are from a scrapbooking kit Mom got me for Christmas quite a few years ago. The handwriting is my own. I need to ask DS for sure who these boys are in the pic and add that to the page

SUPPLIES:
Paper - Karen Foster Designs (School Scrapbook Paper Pad), SU!
Accessories - SU! Sticky Cuts, Martha Steward Glitter, Sticky Strip, Making Memories Distresser tool, Me and My Big Ideas Stickers, assorted chipboard letters, SU! Chipboard (stars)

Book Fair 2005

I'm taking a stroll down the memory lane! When DS was in the 4th grade, his elementary school had a Book Fair. The topic of the evening must have been dogs, although I don't remember it being advertised as such.

Meet CLIFFORD, the Big Red Dog and WOODY, the Kentucky Weiner!

I love Clifford. Whoever was dressed up as Clifford that night and visited the book fiar, must have thought I was a NUT. Seriously. I saw Clifford...started juming up and down...Clifford! Clifford! Look Dale! There's Clifford!

ah hum.

To this day...I STILL don't know who was dressed as Clifford and I don't care! I love Clifford, the Big Red Dog. I got my picture with him!

This page was my first scraplift! Whoo! I scraplifted the sample on the Karen Foster Dog Scrapbooking Kit. I can't believe I just used the letters...RIPPED up the DP...not ONE page, but TWO pages. Another thing I noticed...I'm using FRAMES over my pictures!

I'm in a use up the stash mood. Seriously. I found more neat stuff in my stash for this page featuring Woody, the Kentucky Weiner and his owner. She came to the book fair to sign books, introduce Woody and Chloe and tell a Woody story. Yep...she brought the real Woody and Chloe! They are so spoiled...that Woody and Chloe!

I scanned the cover of Leigh Anne's book and the autograph from inside the cover. I purchased four books that night. A set for Mom and a set for DS. All four were autographed! The bulletin board DP is from a School scrapbook paper pad by Karen Foster. You'll be seeing more of those papers this week. Notice the red brads...those are my faux push pins. Titling was stamped in Real Red Craft Ink using Best Friends Alpha. Seriously now...what other alpha would I use to title a page about a famous Kentucky dog?

If you want to learn more about Woody, Chloe and Leigh Anne, visit them here!

SUPPLIES:
Paper: Karen Foster Designs
Stamps: SU! Best Friends Alpha
Ink: SU! Real Red Craft
Accessories: Real Red match brads, Making Memories Took Kit, SU! Mat Pack, lettering, die cuts and frames from Karen Foster

Meet MOLLY MOO

...and Allie Goodman and Eighty-Eight. These pics were taken in March 2005.

Meet Molly Moo. She's in the top picture...with little Natalie, her daughter. Natalie was born with a paint brush dipped tail. It's so cute. Solid black and the end looks like a paint brush dipped in white paint.

Next...meet Allie Goodman. As a calf, she was very alert, so I named her Allie. DS came up with the Goodman. I'm sitting right under her taking that picture!

On the far right is 88 and her bull calf. 88 is a bull twin. DH purchased her and her twin brother for beef cattle. Normally, we do not use female cattle for beef. We castrate the bulls and use those. However, as I stated previously, 88 is a bull twin...the female/male twin set usually results in a female that cannot be bred. 88 was a RARE exception and has a fine looking calf. She's an excellent mom. And, without fail, she gives us a calf every year. She's also known as Miss Piggy...she hogs the feed. I reckon that's from being raised as a steer before we found out she could be bred.

I'm using up paper, accessories & ribbon from the Stampin' Flybabies Spring 2009 Craft Kit...the butterfly glittered paper, ribbon, flowers, buttons. I really do like the ribbons in this layout; they have a retro feel. The butterfly glittered paper was cut with the Top Note Bigz Die and distressed. The title was cut using Lollipop Sixxiz Alphabet. I ran the title letters through Xyron and attached.

Are you enjoying this trip to my farm? Stop by again, soon!

Supplies:

Paper - SU! Very Vanilla, Making Memories Flower Patch
Accessories - ribbon, buttons, felt flowers, glue dots, sticky strip, Big Shot, Top Notes Bigz Die, Sixxiz, Lollipop Alphabet, Xyron, distresser tool

JLO Technique Challenge #1

Have you ever torn designer paper? Accidently, yeah sure..that's aggravating actually.

How about on purpose? No? Yes?

Me? Yeah...I use my SU! Tearing Edge...love that thing.

Still with me? Ok...next question...

Have you ever wadded up designer paper? Yeah...ya know...wadded it up like a paper basketball? No? Yes?

Me? NO! I don't even wad up designer paper scraps before I toss them in the trashcan. Wad up designer paper on purpose...ARE YA NUTS?!? I keep my DP as wrinkle free as I possibly can!

Crumpling DP sounds like scary stuff! It was unthinkable for me...until this past weekend.

I reckon it's like a child doing something "scary" for the first time...like jumping in the swimming pool, riding a bike...but after ya do it...what a rush!

Tearing designer paper and crumpling is just WAY too much fun! There's just something about tearing and cumpling cheap DP...it's kind of like popping the bubbles in the bubble wrap.

I haven't crumpled the expensive stuff...yet...that's still a tad too far outside my comfort zone at the moment. Let me get used to this new comfort zone.

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to distress DP by tearing or crumpling. Then use it on a project along with a JLO stamp.

Keyword for uploading to SCS is JLOTC01 (JessicaLynnOriginal Technique Challenge 01).

JLO challenges are open to Design Team members and anyone who wishes to participate. Post a comment and leave a link to your project so we can check it out!

Meet my kids...

...my furry kid and my smooth kid. I saw this sketch from 52 sketches...52 weeks...I already knew I wanted to do this Inspiration Challenge...Add a Little Spring to your Layout. It kind of all came together over the course of three days. I just needed to find some pics! Then I found these I had taken in June 2006. I love these pictuers.

Our challenge was to create a layout using the following supplies:

S- use shaped paper. I used the shaped paper from Making Memories Flower Patch that I found in the Stampin FlyBabies Spring 2009 Craft Kit.

P- use patterned paper strips. A perfect way to use up scrap paper strips.

I- ink up those edges. A little bit of thinking here. I decided rather than try to match...coordinate. So I inked the edges of the Blush Blossom panel with Taken with Teal Classic Ink.

N- add some nature to your page; butterflies, flowers, bugs, trees, etc. Butterflies and flowers.

G- glitz up your page with glitter or gems. The Making Memories Flower Patch paper I cut the circle from has glitter accents. I also added Making Memories Rhinestone brads to the primas.

Jennipher must have forgotten the R...

Here's a close up of the top of the page. I used the Tim Holtz Grungeboard flourishes again. They didn't look right naked...so I dressed them up by smooshing in Blush Blossom Craft Ink and dumping on clear EP.

It's lotsa fun trying to heat emboss grungeboard. YA...right. It was quite an adventure trying to figure out how to hold it with the tweezers so it gets heated. Grungeboard is quite floppy. After it cooled off, I popped that big flourish on pop dots.

Here's the middle portion of the layout. Here you can see the inking of the edges and a bit more of the pictures. I distressed the edges of the circle and the patterned paper strips with a distresser tool. You can also get a detailed look at the many patterns of the paper in this layout. They all coordinate nicely.

Here's the embellishments at the bottom of the page. That one...I ran through my Xyron.

How much I enjoy those lazy June & July summer days with my kids...the furry kid and the smooth kid. They are coming up soon!

Supplies:
Paper: Making Memories Flower Patch, SU! Blush Blossom, PTI White
Ink: SU! Blush Blossom Craft, SU! Taken with Teal Classic
Accessories: Tim Holtz Grungeboard, SU! Clear Embossing Powder, SU! Heat Gun, Tweezers, Powder Pals tray, Pop Dots, Primas, Making Memories Rhinestone Brads, glue dots, Making Memories distresser tool, sticky strip, Exacto knife, dinner plate, paper cutter, Xyron

Set of Six Photo Cards and Gift Box

I made six cards and decorated a clear box with scraps from the Stampin Flybabies Spring 2009 Craft Kit. I just could not throw that gorgeous ribbon away. And look at the acetate butterfly! It matches the card I showed you yesterday!

Wanna peek at what's inside?

I took pictures of my flowers, printed these off and attached to PTI White cardstock. I decorated the picture cards with rub-ons from Stampin Up!

Easy, elegant and unique!

SUPPLIES:
Paper: PTI White, Making Memories Flower Patch
Accessories: Rub-ons from SU!, Basic Grey Rub-on tool, glue dots, sticky strip, Making Memories Flower Patch ribbon, brad & die cut, photos, Big Shot, Bigz Butterfly die

Happy Mother's Day Cards

Wanna see the card I made for Mom & Grandma for Mother's Day?

I had received this printed acetate DP in the Stampin' Flybabies Spring 2009 Craft Kit. One sheet...I wanted to get my "money's worth" out of it! I love it. But I was still trying to come up with ideas on how to use it. Unique ways that pack some punch. I decided to run it through the Big Shot with the Butterfly Bigz Die! Oh WOW! I love these butterflies! I mounted these on the side.

Diane will be please to know I've just about used up all my buttons. She'll probably be more pleased when I use them ALL up. Just a few left. The bottom panel was created from paper scraps mounted on a scalloped piece of PTI White. The butterflies and buttons are attached with glue dots. The glue dot does NOT show under the acetate!

Here's my inspiration for this card: me sale-a-bration card from maryloves2stamp's gallery on SCS.

Later on, I'll show you the matching gift box and some of the unique cards inside.

Elementary School Graduation

In May of 2006, DS graduated from Elementary School. Here he is in his black suit and new tennis shoes. We made a special shopping trip to the mall to get him his first suit. The tie was one his principal gave him.

There were several sources of inspiration for this layout. The first was the National Scrapbooking Day Inspiration Extravaganza on SCS this past Friday & Saturday. Jennipher challenged us to scraplift from 1HapEMomE . I do not think I scraplifted anything, but I was inspired by all the distressing on her scrapbook pages.

This is new to me. I'd never thought I'd have so much fun tearing designer paper and wadding it up! That was fun! You ought to try it! Sketch was from 52 Sketches...52 Weeks ...check out Veronica Goh's page! I was shoved outside my comfort zone and am finding I like it here!

I added the Graduation Brentwood Owl from JessicaLynnOriginal. Here he is...peeking over the top of the distressed DP. He was colored with SU! Stampin Write Markers.

Here's a close up of the Flourishes. These are Tim Holtz's grungeboard pieces. I scattered some Primas and SU! Filligree Brads on the flourish.

Here's the right hand page of this two page spread. The big "sign" was actually the opening slide of the slide show they showed at the graduation. I printed that on HP inkjet printer paper.

Most all of the supplies were from my stash, which means I've had them a while. I did have to make a special trip to Michaels for the red primas. I didn't have ANY red primas! Other colors, but no red that was the shade I was looking for. The black paper on the left page is actually "pinstriped". The picture of DS is under a black frame. The "06" are stickers from Top Line Creations Outerwear Monograms Salt and Pepper. The big flourish is popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals; the other flourishes were run through Xyron. After crumpling my paper, I ran the brayer over it to smooth it out a bit. I only used one strip of sticky strip to attach to the distressed DP to the base.

This was definitely a stroll down the memory lane. DS graduates from Middle School on May 30. My baby is gonna be a High School Freshman next year! Wow.

SUPPLIES:
Paper: Michaels - Congrats was single sheet; other DP was from a Provo Craft stack; SU! Going GrayInk: SU! Basic Black Craft, HP inkjet printer paper
Stamps: JessicaLynnOriginal Graduation Brentwood Owl
Accessories: Tim Holtz grungeboard, Stampin Dimensionals, Xyron, Stampin' Write Markers, Primas, SU! Filligree Brads, Black Frame, sticky strip, tearing edge, brayer, TLC Outerwear Monograms Salt and Pepper

Derby Inspired Layout

The 135th Kentucky Derby...the Run for the Roses. There really is a blanket of roses they drape on the winning horse! I think the blanket of roses is so cool and amazing...all that beautiful handiwork and craftsmanship.

I love roses. During the summer, DH will go cut some roses and bring them in for me. He will stick them in empty Coca Cola cans, vases...or he'll just pop in the office and whip out a rose from behind his back. He's a keeper.

Last summer, I took some pictures of these roses. I used these pictures and created simple photo cards. I used rub-ons to say "Thinking of You"..."Thank You"....things like that. That's Mom's Mother's Day present. (wink)

I love these pictures...so I decided to enjoy them more by scrapping them!

So here's my Derby Inspired project...

I haven't decided on a title yet, but when I do...it's gotta fit in that blank So Saffron space. I love the effect of rub-ons on photos.

Here's close up of Brentwood...I used white gel pen to highlight the letters on his shirt. He is popped up on dimensionals.

I really do like this striped paper from a retired SU! Simply Scrappin' Kit named Friends and Flowers. I finally get to use some So Saffron Twill I purchased during SAB.

I added a hat pin from the SU! Pretties Kit to the knot in the ribbon. I love the hat pins...another Derby inspiration item.

This was the unexpected part of the layout...I was planning to use a rose I had die cut. I saw the negative sitting on my desk and it looked so striking against that striped paper. That is popped up with dimensionals.

There was definitely a crafsplosion during the creation of this layout!

Supply List
Paper: Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, PTI White, Designer Paper is from SU! Friends & Flowers Simply Scrappin’ Kit
Stamps: JLO Brentwood Digi Stamp
Accessories: Sticky Die Cuts from Friends & Flowers Simply Scrappin’ Kit, So Saffron Twill, Certainly Celery Twill, Staples, Sizzix, Sizzix Rose Die, SU! Scallop Border Punch, SU! JLO Inspiration Challenge #1

As I mentioned yesterday, it's DERBY WEEKEND. Today is Oaks Day, tomorrow is Derby Day.

Do you want to learn more about the 135th Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville? Check it out! There is also this neat quiz...where you can test your horse lingo. I scored 8/10.

So what's the KY Derby all about? Well...obviously, there's the horses. How about all the television stars, movie stars, country music stars, hats, flowers, fashion, royalty, food...I wouldn't knowWHERE to start with the food...Derby Pie, Mint Juleps, buffet...

I'm really likin' the big flowery hats. Yep...you read Mollymoo right...big flowery hats. Check 'em out! Aren't they fun?

Back to the horses, Jess has this cute pony in her store. Check out this guy...Future Rodeo Star...but he's still young...maybe he's to be a future winner of the Run for the Roses!

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to play along with the JLO DT and create something with JLO stamps inspired by the 135th Kentucky Derby. There's no time limit. If you don't have any JLO stamps, why not check out the FREE Brentwood digi stamp?

If you upload your project to SplitCoastStampers, use keywords JLOIC01 (JessicaLynnOriginal Inspiration Challenge 01). Additional keywords for this project could be Brentwood and/or JessicaLynnOriginal.

I'm looking forward to seeing your creations!

Open that starting gate and let those creative juices flow.

Run...baby...run!
