The Historic State Theatre in Elizabethtown KY is an ART DECO style theatre that recently completed several years of renovation and re-opened on Mother's Day 2009 weekend with a showing of E.T. The last film shown at the State before its closing in the early 1980's was E.T. We - that is me, DH, DS, Mom and Joe - attended the grand re-opening. Tickets were $10, with "free popcorn & soda".
Boy! Did Mom & Joe arrive at the theatre...not only fashionably late at 5:45...ok...they weren't late (show as at 6 PM), but IN STYLE BABY! Joe has this VW he's been working on. It's YO YO YELLOW! Mom said they got lotsa looks driving through downtown Elizabethtown. I bet. I thought it was so cool!
I used Jennipher's inspiration challenge - IFC39 - in selecting my papers for this page. The challenge was mixing patterned papers from different vendors. She provided several combinations. This particular page features the paisleys and checks combo. The check paper is from SU! Urban Garden and the paisley paper from Making Memories.
I followed Sketch #6 from 52sketches52weeks. All supplies from my stash! I don't have to go shopping for supplies, just basics. (sigh) The stitching is a rub-on from K & Company; received in a Wish RAK exchange. Matted one ticket and attached with pop dots; other ticket is attached with sticky strip. Journaling was done in a Word document using Comic Sans MS font and printed on Baha Breeze.
The only candy they had at the refreshment stand was Reeses Pieces. Anyone know why?
It was a trip down the memory lane for me, DH, Mom & probably Joe. DS loved the theatre. He just wished the screen and the seats were bigger. Ummm...son, that's the way it was "back then". He had a blast; he had always wanted to see E.T. It was really cool to see Drew Barrymore as a child; it's hard to believe she & I are roughly the same age! I really did feel old that day, in the good way.
Now, please leave a comment as to WHY Reeses Pieces was the ONLY candy they had at the refreshment stand! Not my favorite candy...but it was OK.

Nice page. The bright accent line goes great with the "old style" BUG.
