...black eyed pea soup...without the ham hock! {wink}
I found this recipe in the News Enterprise back in December 2000. We've had this every New Year's Eve and New Year's Day since. I will either dump it all in the crockpot or I will use my stockpot on the stove. I serve this with corn muffins. Leftovers can be put in the freezer or eat the next day. I think the leftovers are more flavorful than the original. Many times I use precooked crumbled bacon - the real stuff, not the imitation chips.
And, yep...I'm still chipping away at the Provo Craft Slab #10. I even have a drawer dedicated to the Provo Craft Slab Project. Complete with accessories & embellishments. It's very convenient to have it all in one place and it keeps me chipping along. I'm loving these retro colors & designs. I made this page several months ago. (HERE) I think I like it much better with the recipe and the titling.
Whatcha think? Are you going to be trying this recipe for New Years?

Retro Ledger
In the accounting profession, a manual ledger is retro! Thank goodness for Quickbooks! BUT, I do love the look of ledger paper for scrapbooking!
Lookie...
Slowly, but surely, chipping away at the Provo Craft Super Slab #10. They didin't call it super for nothin'. I used SU! 's computer program, My Digital Studio, to create this retro ledger paper from The Write Stuff II Digital Kit.
It doesn't look like much room to write a recipe, does it? For some...sure, but others...gosh NO!
Lookie...again...
Ahhh! YES! Normally, I put the backs of TWO layouts together in one protector. For those recipes that require more writing than the front allows, will just have it's own sheet protector...all to itse'f! :-D
I'm very pleased. I'm still loving these cool aqua colors...perfect for a hot summer day!

Bon Appetit - Retro
I'm still chipping away at the Provo Craft Super Slab #10 - remind me...next time I go...oh & ah over a slab of paper...NOT TO. Geez. BUT, it IS pretty paper. So, I best use it up so I can enjoy it!
Lookie...
A page for my recipe book. It's a long term goal to get all my family tried and true favorite recipes in one book. Why not make it a pretty book? I made two identical pages - just add recipe.
Yesterday was the last day of summer vacation. School starts TODAY! Yikes! I had such a nice nice summer. Now, one evening when I'm assisting the son with homework, I can get out my recipes, grab a journaling pen and a recipe card...and start jotting down these tried and true family favorites!

6 x 6 Albumn in a Day
...actually it was more like 4 - 5 hours. Holy cow! I am still working on the Provo Craft Super Slab #10. I scrap 12 x 12; but decided to do some 6 x 6 pages. Lookie...
I used a "Scrapbook in an evening" scrap map provided by Stampin' Up! Most all products used on the pages are SU! with the exception of the designer paper, the dew drops and a few of the embellishments.
Here's a list of items used to create these pages:
Stamps: SU! Journaling Fun (retired)
Ink: SU! Pale Plum Classic, SU! Perfect Plum Classic
Paper: SU! Whisper White, SU! Pale Plum (textured), Provo Craft Super Slab #10, SU! Perfect Plum
Accessories: SU! Button Boutique, SU! Embosslits Beautiful Wings, SU! Big Shot, Glue Dots, SU! Tearing Edge, Antique Keys (unknown vendor), Sticky Strip, SU! Stampin' Dimensionals, SU! Mini Library Clips, SU! Vintage Brads, SU! Buttons (retired), Striped Grosgrain (unknown vendor), SU! Small Tag Punch, SU! Tag Punch, Robin's Nest Dew Drops, Mono Multi, SU! Decorative Accents Die, Cuttlebug Textile Embossing Folder, Velour Rick Rack (May Arts), SU! Pretties Kit (flat backed pearls), SU! Decorative Accents #2 Die, SU! Linen Thread, Spiral Clip (unknown), Polka Dot Sheer Ribbon (unknown vendor).
So how do you approach a project like this? How can you recreate this project? Select two patterns, two solids and one neutral (white or vanilla). You'll need two of each solid color. Cut each 12 x 12 sheet in to 4 6 x 6 pieces. Then start cutting and laying out the pages. After all pages have been laid out, begin assembly. I do some embellishing during lay out and assembly. I do extra embellishing after I have all pages completed. Now I have a wonderful set of pages...complete with "dummy" portraits...all I need to do is attach pictures in the sizes noted!
Neat, huh?
