Happy 60th Birthday Dad!

WOW! I can't believe Dad turned 60 on Saturday! I did give him a call to wish him a happy birthday. We're planning to have a cookout / birthday party for Dad & my DS on Sunday. Here's something I made for Dad.

Here's the front view:

Here's the back view:

I was altering a wooden box from the Stampin' Flybabies Summer Craft Kit and wanted to do something different. I decided to spray paint the box using three colors - a walnut color, a tan color and gold. I spray painted outside in the shop, in front of the fan. Haha - I was NOT downwind.

I had some SU! Carousel Notes I had yet to open. I thought to make "flowers". I used John Deere stickers to decorate some, Chocolate Chip Love & Happiness Rub Ons to alter others, with chocolate brads in the middle as seeds.

Inside the wooden box is a styrofoam cube. I purchased cattails and black eyed susan flowers from Michaels. The papercrafted "flowers" are attached to bamboo skewers. I used my Coluzzle to create the Summer Sun and Garden Green circles, used my SU! Scallop Punch and my Marvy Mega Scallop Circle to create the other circles.

I punched a Giga Scalloped Oval from Soft Sky CS and used to cover the handles, because although I picked up moss at Michaels, I put it back because I got green styrofoam. Well, after I got it all put together, I could see the "backbones" and wanted to hide that. However, I wanted to get my project completed and did not want to go back to Michaels. So I had to think of something. This was what I came up with.

Here's a close up of the flower arrangement from the front:

And from the back:

The back panels are attached with pop dots.

I received the Tractor Time image and the John Deere stickers through the SCS Wish RAK Forum. I punched the stamped image with a Marvy Mega Oval Punch and colored with Copic Markers. The "grass border", I found at Michaels & can not remember what company makes it. I trimmed the bottom of the oval & inserted the tractor under the grass border.

You can really see the shimmer of the gold and the various colors used to paint the box. I hope Dad likes this. I ordered him a John Deere cake, too! I love this & I am so NOT the dried "fake" flowers person - aaaaaachooooooo! They collect dust. But this - I like. I hope Dad enjoys it.

The supply list is long - here's what I can remember looking at the photos:
Stamps: Tractor Time, Big Deal Alpha, Cheery Chat
Ink: Garden Green Craft, Black
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Summer Sun, Paper Trey Ink White, Garden Green
Supplies: wooden box, spray paint (Walnut, tan & gold), grass border, sticky strip, various punches (1/4" hand held, Marvy Giga Scallop Oval, Marvy Mega Oval, SU! Scallop Circle, Marvy Mega Circle Scallop), bamboo skewers, doodle template, SU! markers, Copic Markers, brads, Love & Happiness rub-ons in Chocolate chip, Basic Grey Rub-On Tool, fake flowers, styrofoam, John Deere Stickers, pop dots
